Pequeno 2 Sprint Wins, Fry Triple Jump 1st In Men's Track And Field's Highlights At ECC Meet

Buoyed by victories in the 100 and 200 meter dashes by sophomore star Anthony Pequeno and another first place in the triple jump by freshman Noah Fry, the Pasadena City College men's track and field team continues to impress after a strong team performance at the El Camino 5-Way Challenge meet held Feb. 21.

Pequeno ran the current state's #1 time in the 200 in hitting the finish line in a speedy 21.69 seconds. His victory in the 100 in 10.81 is fifth in California for community colleges. 

Fry captured first in the TJ in a leap of 43 feet, 9.2 inches but his best jump is fourth in the state (44-9.5) performed at the Bakersfield Battle of the Regions meet on Feb. 13. He was fourth in the long jump at 19-8.2.

Quishawn Stanford placed second in the 200 in 22.60 (state 15th) while Drake Anderson scored second in the 800 in 2:04.51.

The 4x400 relay squad of Jake Rogel, Dylan Hooks, Joshua Ramirez and Pequeno was beaten at the wire by Saddleback 3:30.64 to the Lancers 3.30.94. PCC's mark is 11th in the state.

Dylan La Marsna was fourth in the 800 in 2:06.13. 

The Lancers will compete at the Cerritos Open this Saturday, Feb. 28 with events beginning at 12 noon.
