A 15-4 hole through the first 10 minutes proved to be one the Pasadena City College women's basketball team couldn't dig out of as state #20 LA Trade-Tech sent the Lancers to defeat, 58-42, in PCC's South Coast Conference North Division opener on Friday night.

The Lancers (11-10) overall have lost nine straight division games going back to the 2023-24 season.

Pasadena cut it to 17-14 on a Paris Ngeam layup and a Ngeam jumper left Pasadena behind just 33-27 with 2:20 left in the third quarter.

Trade-Tech (16-6, 1-1) used the long-distance shooting of Niela Wiliams, who sank a trio of 3-pointers early in the fourth period that distanced the Beavers from PCC at 48-31. Williams led all scorers with 24 points and added 11 rebounds.

For PCC, Celine Bolton-Ford collected 12 points, 17 rebounds, five steals, three blocks and three assists while Kamora Fletcher talllied 11 points, 13 rebounds and seven steals. PCC forced 22 steals, four by Monica Menzies, three by Ngeam, who scored eight points and grabbed seven boards.

Ava Chang added five points and Kimberly Dominguez had four points.

The Lancers struggled from the field, making 23.4 percent and at the free throw line (5-for-12, 41.7 percent).

On Wednesday, Jan. 28, PCC hosts state #1 Mt. San Antonio, 21-1 and leading the SCC North at 2-0. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
