State Runner-Up For PCC's Yao In Individual Badminton Singles

Xiaoming Yao became the fourth Pasadena City College women's badminton player in the past five years to reach the CCCAA State Individual Singles finals. However, her run, like the Lancers team finish on Thursday, ended as state runner-up on Saturday. The individual tournament took place May 10-11 at PCC's Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

Badminton Falls In State Title Match To Fresno, 12-5

As expected, the Fresno City College women's badminton team proved too much for Pasadena City College in the CCCAA State Championship Final, 12-5, Thursday at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. The Lancers 2-year reign on the state first-place trophy ended, although their streak of state final appearances stands now at four in a row.

Until last Friday, Pasadena City College women's badminton fifth-year head coach Jen Ho had never seen her team lose a match in regular season play. That streak of 49 consecutive matches along with a 29 wins in a row overall string were stopped in a stunning 19-2, non-conference loss at De Anza.
