The Pasadena City College men's track and field team placed in a tie for 12th place at the Southern California Championships held Saturday at Bakersfield College.

Anthony Pequeno placed fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.43 seconds and was seventh in the 400 at 48.77. He is the sixth fastest in the 200 (21.23 earlier this year).

Quishawn Stanford, the top seed from the May 2 SoCal Prelims, bested his time in the 400 hurdles by .14 of a second but his 53.73 only placed him fourth. He also scored fifth in the 110 hurdles at 15.28. Stanford stands eighth in the state in the longer hurdles.

The 4x400 relay squad of Stanford, Izaiah Reed, Morgan Strauss and Joshua Ramirez ran a season best 3:19.25, good enough for sixth in the event.

The Lancers scored 19 team points, tying East Los Angeles and Cuyamaca for the 12th spot out of 22 scoring teams. That placing is actually the highest by a Lancers team since 2015.

Directed by head coach Innocent Egbunike, the Lancers advance to the 3C2A State Championships this Saturday, May 16 at Mt. San Antonio College.
