Morgan Strauss placed second in the 400 meter dash and Quishawn Stanford scored second as well in the 400 hurdles to highlight the Pasadena City College men's track and field team's performance at the South Coast Conference Championships held Saturday at El Camino College.
PCC took sixth in the 7-team, SCC standings with 36 points.
Strauss raced 48.31 seconds, just being beat at the finish line by Mt. SAC winner Dylan Ochoa in 48.13. PCC's Anthony Pequeno placed sixth in 49.59. Strauss moved up to #11 in the state while Pequeno still holds the Lancers top time this season at 48.28 (10th).
Stanford raced 55.89 but could not catch Long Beach City winner Fudail Burns at 55.62. The times were not fast in state standards as Stanford is 20th with a best of 55.62.
The Lancers 4x400 relay placed third behind the racing of Joshua Ramirez, Izaiah Reed, Strauss, and Pequeno is a season-best 3:19.85 (now ninth in state).
Noah Fry took fourth in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 46 feet, 4.25 inches, now ninth in the state.
Maybe the most anticipated event was the 200, but Pequeno, who is fifth in the state at 21.23, took a tough sixth at 22.26 but had fought through being ill going into the race. He was second as a freshman at the 2025 SCC Finals.
The 4x100 relay placed sixth in 42.92, slower than PCC's best of 41.91 (15th).
Coach Innocent Egbunike's Lancers will next take part in the Southern California Prelims to be held Saturday, May 2 at Bakersfield College. The SoCal Championships follow on May 9, also at Bakersfield.
