Pequeno Posts State's Current Fastest 200 Meters At Bakersfield Battle Of The Regions Meet

Pasadena City College men's track and field sophomore sprinter Anthony Pequeno raced a current state-fastest time of 22 seconds flat to win the 200 meters event at the Bakersfield Batte of the Regions meet held Feb. 13.

Pequeno, second last year at the Southern California Regional Championships in the 200, has PCC's 10th fastest time in the 200 set last year at the South Coast Conference Championships in 21.27. 

Although very early in the track season, Pequeno is hoping to once again earn a spot at the 3C2A State Championships, a feat he acocomplished as a freshman (took ninth place). 

He also placed third at the Bakersfield College meet in the 100 (11.09). 

Other top finishers for PCC were Noah Fry placing third in the triple jump (44-9.5 feet) and seventh in the long jump (19-11.75), Lucas Plascencia seventh in the 800 (2:05.10), Noah Fry seventh in the long jump (19-11.75 feet), Drake Anderson ninth in the 1,500 (4:15.75).

The 4x100 relay squad of Izaiah Reed, Aidon Phillips, Morgan Strauss, and Pequeno took third at 43.25. 

On Saturday, Feb. 21, the Lancers are scheduled to compete in the El Camino 5-Way Challenge meet begining at 10 a.m.
