It wasn't what the Pasadena City College men's swim team hoped for, but the Lancers found much to cheer about at the 2018 South Coast Conference Championships held April 19-21 at Mt. San Antonio College. After a perfect SCC dual meet season, the Lancers placed third at the conference finals, finishing behind winner Mt. San Antonio and second-place El Camino. PCC has never won the SCC team championship title.
This may be the year for the Pasadena City College men's swim team. Since joining the South Coast Conference in 1987, Lancers teams have never won the dual season title nor the SCC Championships. After sweeping Mt. San Antonio and host Rio Hondo on Friday, PCC is 4-0 to top the SCC dual standings.
Buoyed by five event wins from freshman Ryan Wang, The Pasadena City College men's swim team took second place for its highest team finish ever at the annual Mt. San Antonio Invitational meet held Feb. 22-24. PCC totaled 571.5 points to place behind runaway winner Orange Coast (1,023.5) and ahead of the other 14 scoring colleges.
Last season, the Pasadena City College men's swim team made a return to the upper tier with a ninth place showing at the CCCAA State Championships. The Lancers featured the South Coast Conference Co-Swimmer of the Year in Samuel Jo and produced 11 All-American swims.
