The Pasadena City College women's water polo team has struggled to find its offense while still receiving tremendous goaltending from sophomore Rae Jiao. The Lancers have been limited to 17 goals in eight games thus far in the 2025 season.

PCC (0-8 record, 0-4 in South Coast Conference play) is still searching for its first win after losing two games at the Ventura Tournament against Bakersfield and host Ventura.

Freshman center Yahaira Martinez scored three of the team's four goals at the tourney and now leads the Lancers in scoring with nine goals overall. Genesis Rojas made four steals at center-defender in the loss to Ventura and paces the team in takeaways with nine.

Jiao continues to be the team's brightspot as she made an impressive, season-high 13 saves v. the Pirates, including stoning two VC penalty shots. Jiao, who had eight stops v. Bakersfield, is averaging eight saves a game and has reached double digits in saves three times. She surpassed her freshman save mark by 14 in six less games as a letterman.

Frosh attacker Selah Gonzalez has five goals for second-best on the squad thus far.

The Lancers next host Chaffey on Wednesday, Oct. 15 in a 3 p.m. SCC game. PCC's will celebrate its sophomore trio of Jiao, Hannah Solis, and Alondra Vazquez prior to the contest.
