SCC Prelims Results

Kezia Gavlak became the first Pasadena City College women's track and field conference champion in the triple jump in 19 years during action at the South Coast Conference Prelims meet held Tuesday at El Camino College.

Gavlak leaped 37 feet, 9.25 inches, short of her season best of 38-1.5, but good enough to grab first place in the TJ. She is the second Lancer to win the event and first since Essence Wyatt, who won in 2007 and holds the PCC school record in the event at 39-5.

Gavlak assured PCC had a SCC champion for the second straight year at Deniya Fields won the 400 meters event in 2025.

The Lancers scored 16 of their 20 team points overall in the triple jump going into the SCC Championships on Saturday, April 25 also at ECC. Destiny Rayburn scored third place with a leap of 36-10.25.

Camila Gonzalez placed fifth (four points) in the 10,000 meters with a time of 42:42.59.

Pasadena is in fourth place in the SCC standings thus far as Mt. San Antonio leads with 65, Cerritos has 52, and Long Beach City scored 38.
