Familiar End To Another Women's Basketball Season

For the third time in four years, the Pasadena City College women's basketball team's potential trip to a state tournament was derailed by the same opponent and at the same location--East Los Angeles College. A third meeting this season between the two teams was controlled by the Huskies, 78-53, in Round 3 of the Southern California Regional Playoffs Saturday evening.

Pasadena City College's Dariel Johnson was selected as the 2018-2019 All-South Coast Conference North Division Women's Basketball Freshman of the Year. She was one of four Lancers chosen to the 25-player conference team.

Women's Basketball Hangs On To Beat Palomar, Advance to Round 3 Regionals

For three quarters, it was all #6 seed Pasadena City College in the women's basketball team's SoCal Regional Playoff, Round 2 game against Palomar Friday night. The Lancers bombed in eight 3-point baskets and led 45-28 at halftime, then 56-41 after three quarters. But in the fourth quarter, PCC went cold on offense as the #11 Comets mounted a furious rally to cut it to two points.

#6 Seed Women's Cagers Puts Sparkling Home Playoff Record On Line v. #11 Palomar

For the 22nd time in 23 seasons under head coach Joe Peron, the Pasadena City College women's basketball team qualified for the postseason. Despite tying for fourth place in the ultra-strong South Coast Conference North Division, the Lancers earned the No. 6 seed and will host No. 11 Palomar in Round 2 of the Southern California Regional Playoffs on Friday, March 1. Tip-off is 7 p.m. at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

Women's Basketball Limits Chaffey In SCC Final

The fun came back for at least one game for the state No. 17-ranked Pasadena City College women's basketball team Friday night. The Lancers snapped a 4-game losing streak, the longest since 1995-96, the year before Coach Joe Peron started directing the program by defeating host Chaffey, 70-26, in the South Coast Conference North Division finale.

SCC North Taking Toll On Women's Basketball

The Pasadena City College women's basketball team continues to tumble down the state rankings and the standings of the state's most powerful conference--the South Coast North Division. On Friday night, #3 rated LA Trade Tech posted a season high in points against the visiting #14 Lancers and dropped PCC into fifth place in the 6-team division, 89-66.

Offense Erupts As Women's Hoops Returns To Win Column

After a grind of facing state top 20-ranked teams in seven of its last eight games, the Pasadena City College women's basketball team needed some respite from the brutal schedule. The No. 12-ranked Lancers found it Wednesday night as they scored a season-high and ended a 3-game losing streak in an 81-52 rout over South Coast Conference North Division last-place Chaffey at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

Women's Cagers Slump At Wrong Time

Only in the South Coast Conference North Division can a team face three state top 10 opponents in a week's span. For the No. 7-rated Pasadena City College women's basketball team, its trip through the division has been a rocky one. On Friday night, the Lancers lost their third straight to a high-ranked team as Mt. San Antonio continued its home mastery over PCC, 55-51, and extended their home winning streak v. Pasadena teams to now 11 in a row.

Women's Basketball Loses Defensive Battle of State Top 10 Teams

Los Angeles Trade Tech had a simple plan to frustrate the Pasadena City College women's basketball team Wednesday night. The Beavers put all their efforts in stopping Lancers center Dariel Johnson and their punishing post defense was the story as the state No. 7-ranked Lancers were held to a season-low in points in a 55-41 loss to No. 6 Trade Tech.

State #4 East LA Turns Tables On #7 PCC Women's Cagers

Going into the game with the state's top defense at only 50.6 points allowed per game, the Pasadena City College women's basketball team had no answers to stop rival and state No. 4-ranked East Los Angeles Friday night. ELAC led by as much as 20 points in the second quarter and ran the floor past the Lancers, 69-57, at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

SCC North Opener Is Close Win For Women's Cagers

Playing in the toughest conference in the state, the Pasadena City College women's basketball continued its theme of strong defense to beat host Rio Hondo, 57-53, in the South Coast Conference North Division opener for both teams Wednesday evening.

DJ's Historic Triple-Double Helps Women's Hoops Win Crossover Challenge Tourney Title

Dariel Johnson did two things never done before in Pasadena City College women's basketball history Friday night. She performed the program's first points-rebounds-blocks triple-double and set new school record for blocked shots in a game with 12 as icing on the cake, helping PCC win the Crossover Challenge Tournament championship over LA Trade Tech, 65-58. The final was played at Cerritos College.

Women's Basketball, Peron Keeps Hex On Ventura, 62-41

No women's basketball program has had more success against the state's all-time winningest head coach Ned Mircetic and his Ventura College Pirates than Pasadena City College. Lancers head coach Joe Peron continued his mastery in head-to-head meetings between the two schools with a 62-41 rout over Ventura at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium on Wednesday.

Battle of the Defense Goes PCC Women's Hoops Way, 46-41

With two of the state's top three defensive teams meeting up, Friday's Pasadena City College women's basketball contest v. Glendale was every bit a struggle to score. The Vaqueros led 1-0 after the game's first five minutes and held a 19-17 halftime lead.

Women's Cagers Runner-Up At San Jose Tournament

The Pasadena City College women's basketball team settled for second place at the San Jose City College Lady Jaguar Invitational held Dec. 27-29. The Lancers, currently No. 5 in state RPI, lost to the North's No. 1 and state #2 Merced in the tourney final, 68-56.

PCC's Dariel Johnson has led the team to a 10-2 start and No. 7 state ranking this season.
Women's Basketball Winning With Defense, Now 10-2

Ranked No. 7 in last week's State Top 20 Coaches Poll, the Pasadena City College women's basketball team ran its sparkling overall record to 10-2 after finishing 2-1 at the College of the Desert Classic Dec. 14-16. PCC's defense has been a big reason for the early-season success as the team is No. 3 in the state in points allowed at 49.7 per game.

Cosette Balmy, a point guard on the 2018-19 Pasadena City College women's basketball team, has been awarded this year's Tiana Sanders #24 Scholarship.

Women's Basketball Wins COS Tourney Consolation Title

The Pasadena City College women's basketball team followed its first loss of the 2018-19 season by winning three straight games to capture the consolation title at the 42nd College of the Sequoias Gilcrest Invitational played Nov. 29-Dec. 2. The Lancers are off to a strong 8-1 start.

Women's Cagers Go 3-0 At PCC Round Robin Classic

The Pasadena City College women's basketball team completed a 3-0 run to proclaim itself champions of the PCC Round Robin Classic after routing San Diego City College, 64-39, Saturday afternoon at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

Women's Basketball Finally Cuts Down Sequoias, 54-52

For the past two seasons, College of the Sequoias has felt right at home at Pasadena City College's Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. The Giants enjoyed championship wins over the Lancers the past two seasons at the then President's Roundball Classic, including one of the worst home losses ever by a Coach Joe Peron team in a 72-36 defeat last year.

Women's Hoops Home Opener Not Pretty, But Pick Up Win

The Pasadena City College women's basketball team didn't shoot well in any of the three areas Thursday but neither did opponent Imperial Valley as the Lancers won their home opener, 59-44, on the first day of the PCC Round Robin Classic. The 6-team tourney continues Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9-10.

Women's Basketball Reloads For 2018-19, Earns 2 Wins At Bakersfield Crossover Tourney

Pasadena City College women's basketball head coach Joe Peron wanted to avoid the depth issues his team had last season, so it was a heavy recruiting off-season for the Lancers and Peron's assistant coaching staff. Successful opening results in the form of two wins at the Bakersfield College Crossover Tournament have PCC excited about its prospects for the 2018-19 season.
