The Pasadena City College men's swim team won a dominating 12 of 15 events to defeat Cerritos, 156-112, and host Chaffey, 161-87, as the Lancers swept the South Coast Conference's finale double dual meet on Mar. 27.
The Lancers (3-3) close the dual meet portion of the schedule in a tie for third place with both Long Beach City and Cerritos. Mt. San Antonio won the dual title at 6-0.
PCC next will co-host the annual Pasadena Invite held at East Los Angeles College on Thursday, April 2 (diving only), then Friday-Saturday, April 3-4 (swimming events).
In the SCC dual, Tristan Chou won all three of his individual events for the second meet in a row. He won the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:05.82), 500 free (5:32.27) and 200 backstroke (2:14.10). He also was the backstroke leg of the team's winning 200 medley relay with teammates Jordan Choi, De'Andre Paiz, and Michael Khoury.
Choi also won three events, touching the wall first in the 100 butterfly (55.37), 200 fly (2:22.48) nad 200 free (2:00.98). Paiz was the event champ in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.10) and 200 breastroke (2:22.49) and placed second in the 50 free (23.70).
Khoury won that 50 sprint in 22:62 and was also the winner of the 100 free (52.23).
Other Lancers contributing to the two team wins were Haofeng Tang placing second in the 100 free (55.52) and third in the 50 free (24.85), an event the Lancers placed 1-2-3. Ryan Lee placed third in the 100 and 200 breastsrokes.
WOMEN
PCC lost to Chaffey, 154-44, and Cerritos, 202-22, as Yahaira Martinez took second in the 1,000 free (12:05.82) and 500 free (7:06.54). She was fourth in the 100 free (1:11.16). Elyssa Guevara scored second in the 100 butterfly (1:21.88), and was third in the 100 individual medley (1:23.60) and 100 backstroke (1:27.66).
Coach Terry Stoddard's squads will take part in the SCC Championships on April 16-18 at El Camino College.
