The Pasadena City College men's swim team was sixth out of eight scoring teams at the El Camino 3x Invitational held on Feb. 13. The meet was set up as a triple distance type meet where individual swimmers competed in three different distance events in the same stroke.
The Lancers were paced by De'Andre Paiz, who placed third all three breaststroke events--50-yard (28.14 seconds), 100 (1:02.14), and 200 (2:23.28).
Another solid swimmer was Tristan Chou, who swam the backstroke events, placing third in the 50 (26.85), fourth in the 100 (1:02.27), and fifth in the 200 (2:15.31).
Jordan Choi was consistent in the butterfly events, placing fourth in all three, 50 (25.01), 100 (56.73), and 200 (2:17.87).
Pasadena was third in the 200 medley relay in 1:42.77 behind the swimming of Chou, Paiz, Choi and Haofeng Tang.
Although the women's team did not score, Elyssa Guevara swam in the backstroke, placing sixth in the 200 (3:02.42) and seventh in both the 50 (39.65) and 100 (1:25.19). Yahaira Martinez was eighth in the 500 freestyle (6:51.40), ninth in the 100 free (1:11.52), and 10th in the 200 free (2:35.59).
On Friday, Feb. 27, the Lancers begin South Coast Conference dual meet action, facing El Camino and host Mt. San Antonio in a double dual competition.
