The Pasadena City College men's swim team began the 2026 season on Friday at the annual South Coast Conference Pentathlon held at Mt. San Antonio College.
The Lancers have a talented freshman in De'Andre Paiz, from Arcadia High, and the newcomer impressed in his first collegiate meet by placing second overall among 76 conference swimmers in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:01.65. Paiz also took seventh in the 100 individual medley (2:08.95), 11th in the 100 butterfly (57.61), and 32nd in the 100 freestyle (55.53). He was a team-high 24th in the individual total points standings with 353.3.
Another new recruit is Jordan Choi (Crescenta Valley HS), who placed eighth in the 100 fly (55.87) and 11th in the 100 backstroke (1:03.54). Choi added a 13th in the 200 IM (2:15.28), 22nd in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.60), and 23rd in the 100 free (53.47). He was 26th in points at 339.3.
Freshman Michael Khoury (Pasadena High) scored 15th in the 100 back (1:03.98), 16th in the 200 IM (2:21.99), a team-best 22nd in the 100 free (53.35), 23rd in the 100 fly (1:00.85), and 45th in the 100 breast (1:18.43). He was 28th in points with 327.2.
As a team, PCC placed sixth out of seven scoring squads with 243 points.

The men also joined by the PCC women's team as Yahaira Martinez and Elyssa Guevara teamed with Paiz and Khoury in the 200 mixed freestyle relay to place fifth (1:54.52).
The Lancers women's squad is short with three swimmers currently as Guevara's best swim was taking 30th in the 100 butterfly (1:27.82) and Martinez' best swim was in the same event in 32nd at 1:29.22. Guevara was 18th in the 200 IM at 3:07.77 in a short field of overall performers.

Pasadena begins the SCC dual meet schedule on Friday, Feb. 27 at Mt. SAC as it takes on the Mounties and El Camino. PCC also will then follow by taking part in the Mt. SAC Invite on both Feb. 27-28.
The Lancers are directed by Terry Stoddard in his 26th season as head coach of the swim programs.
