Big Lead Evaporates In Men's Basketball Loss at ELAC

For the second time in South Coast Conference North Division play, the Pasadena City College men's basketball team let a large lead slip away as the Lancers lost to host East Los Angeles on a buzzer-beating, 3-point basket from Jayden Barnes, 71-68, on Friday evening. 

PCC (9-13 overall) remains winless in division play at 0-4 despite leading 45-30 at halftime and building the lead to 20 points (64-44) on a basket-and-one by Brandin Jackson with 11 minutes left.

Darrius Freeman led the Lancers with 16 points, Jackson scored 14 and Churchill Ikenador tallied 11. 

State #9 Mt. San Antonio handed PCC an 84-69 loss at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium on Wednesday. Coming off the bench, Gavin Hollins-Law scored a team-high 17 points while starters Freeman and Ikenador had 10 each. Seven different Lancers made at least one 3-pointer while the Mounties countered with a solid attack to the basket, led by Dayvon Gates' 21 points and eight assists. 

Pasadena hopes to enter the conference win column on Wednesday, Feb. 4 when its hosts Rio Hondo College in a 5 p.m. tip-off.
