Rough Men's Basketball Season Ends

The 2021-2022 Pasadena City College men's basketball team closed out one of the most difficult seasons in school history Friday night with an 89-60 loss to visiting Long Beach City College. The Lancers finished with an overall record of 1-26, matching the most losses in a season set by by the 1955-56 and 1997-98 squads.

Rio Hondo's Losing Streak Ends at Men's Basketball's Expense

Two teams desperately needing a win got together Friday night at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. The 1-19 Pasadena City College men's basketball team liked its chances in facing the 1-20 Rio Hondo College Roadrunners. Despite playing with just five players, Rio Hondo did just enough to hand PCC its eighth straight loss, 81-78, while ending a 3-month long, 17-game losing streak.

Men's Basketball Struggles Continue

While the margins of defeat are getting better, the Pasadena City College men's basketball can't keep up with the rest of the South Coast Conference. The Lancers finished the first half of SCC North Division play winless at 0-4 after home losses v. LA Trade Tech and Mt. San Antonio earlier this week.

PCC Men's Hoops No Chance v. Last Chance U

The Netflix cameras came what it was looking for Friday night--a highlight reel of dunks and plenty of baskets spread out among 15 different scorers as the East Los Angeles College men's basketball team, the stars of the popular documentary series Last Chance U, handed host Pasadena City College its worst loss in school history, 115-58.

Men's Cagers Return To Action After Month Layoff

The good news for the Pasadena City College men's basketball team was the Lancers finally returned to the floor Wednesday night after a month-long layoff due to the surge in COVID-19 cases throughout the state. The bad news was the squad's improvements made just before several non-conference games were postponed starting on Dec. 21 have been sidetracked.

Men's Cagers Push #27 Canyons In Close Defeat

Trying to build off its first win of the season last week v. Pierce, the Pasadena City College men's basketball team did a similar strong job of forcing the issue defensively against state #27-ranked College of the Canyons. The Lancers made 15 steals and flustered COC into 24 turnovers, but a decisive differential at the free throw line allowed COC to walk away with a 76-69 victory at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium Tuesday afternoon.

Holiday Miracle: Worst Loss Avenged As Men's Basketball Wins 1st Game

Sports is as much about redemption and second chances than simply the better team always wins. On Nov. 18, the Pasadena City College men's basketball team was handed a 50-point loss, 92-42, by Glendale at the Skip Robinson Classic. It was one of the worst losses in school history and the largest margin of defeat suffered by a Lancers team at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium since in it opened in 1999.

For a brief moment Wednesday night, the Pasadena City College men's basketball grabbed the lead v. visiting Pierce during the second half of its non-conference game. Joevontay Clayton's fastbreak layup capped a 14-1 Lancers run for a 54-51 PCC advantage with just under 14 minutes left in the game.

The Pasadena City College men's basketball team is still searching for its first victory after two more losses at the Lancers-hosted Skip Robinson Classic played Nov. 18-20 at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. PCC is 0-7 on the season, but did get to play in front of the home fans for the first time since February of 2020.

It is certainly an unusal time for the Pasadena City College men's basketball program. The Lancers found out their long-time head coach Michael Swanegan retired before the season, and the recruiting off-season was made tougher due to the effects of the layoff from the COVID-19 pandemic.
