Football's Desi Valdes Earns SCFA Player of the Week #5

Pasadena City College football's Desi Valdes, a freshman safety/kick returner, earned SCFA Special Teams/All-Purpose Player of the Week #5 honors today after his sterling performance in Saturday's National Central League win over Bakersfield.

"Desi V Productions" put on a highlight reel peformance v. the Renegades as he sparked an amazing 35-point third quarter turnaround.

The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Valdes opened the second half with a 90-yard kick return for a tourhdown. On the next series, he batted a pass pulled in by teammate Caeden Holcomb for a 42-yard interception return for another TD.

He later made a huge tackle behind the line of scrimmage on a Bakersfield 4th-and-1 near midfield and PCC capitalized with yet another touchdown.

Finally, Valdes forced a fumble that once again was parlayed by the PCC offense into a fourth TD. All of those plays occurred in the third quarter. He finished with seven tackles, three pass break-ups, and 126 kick return yards. He also had an 87-yard KR for a TD in the first half that was called back due to a penalty.
