Graham Passes For 6 TDs, Lancers Reach 70 Points For Only 2nd Time In School History

Starting quarterback Kekahi Graham passed for six touchdowns  as the Pasadena City College football team romped over host West Los Angeles, 70-13, in a SCFA non-league game on Saturday afternoon.

The 70 points make it the second-highest scoring performance ever by a PCC team. The record was reached in a 76-0 victory over Sterling (Colorado) in 1949. 

The Lancers (2-0) scored a dizzying 21 points in just a 23-second span during the first quarter. Graham opened things with a 17-yard TD dart to Tijani Daley. Julian Estrada recovered a WLAC fumble on the ensuing kickoff. Two plays later, Graham hit Jordan Rodriguez for a 12-yard touchdown. 

PCC then recovered a perfectly placed onside kick by PCC uber kicker/punter Justin Vergara at the PCC 46. Second-string quarterback Wyatt Oak came in and immediately bombed a 54-yard TD aerial to Greg Moore. Vergara's extra point made it 21-0 only five minutes into the game. 

Graham, a 6-foot, 190-pounder from Saint Louis High, Hawaii, continued to shine in just his second collegiate game. The lefty completed 17 of 26 passes for 277 yards. He hit LeMonte Holmes for a 7-yard score late in the first quarter, then a 7-yard strike to Jacob Turowetz and 11-yard scoring pass to Daley in the second quarter as PCC took a 49-6 lead by halftime.

Penalties and constant discussions by the referee crew led to a first half that lasted almost two hours. With the game out of hand, the teams agreed to play 12-minute quarters in the second half. 

That didn't stop Graham who lofted a 40-yard bomb to Drushun Phillips in the third quarter for his sixth TD. Graham added a 4-yard keeper touchdown in the period. 

Oak, who was 4-for-8 for 88 yards, added a 17-yard TD run with 4:35 left in the contest while Isaac Glover contributed PCC's other touchdown, a 4-yard run late in the second quarter. 

Glover led the ground game with five carries for 50 yards. PCC head coach Robert Tucker played four different quarterbacks and 12 different receivers pulled in at least one pass.

The defense was highlighted by a 74-yard interception return by Torriq Brumfield and Idrique Carmichael with an interception and two pass break-ups. Estrada added a sack and a forced fumble while De'Qua Lang and Derrick Barrios also collected sacks. 

PCC visits College of the Desert next Saturday, Sept. 16 in a 6 p.m. kickoff.
