Gardner's Rushing Shines, Sophomore Sack Artists Bid Adieu In Football's Finale

While the Pasadena City College football team said goodbye to a bevy of top lettermen pass rushers, the Lancers may have found a key running back for next season in Caleb Gardner. The freshman Gardner rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns in PCC's 27-17 season-ending loss at SCFA American Mountain League champion Mt. San Jacinto on Saturday afternoon.

With only one quarterback available due to injuries in Joshua Andrade, Pasadena City College Director of Football Operations/Head Coach Robert Tucker scrambled this week in trying to make sure he had reserve options. But Andrade not only played every offensive down, the freshman from Las Vegas hit a jackpot with three straight touchdown passes as the Lancers downed host Compton, 35-14, on Saturday night.

First-Ever Football Encounter Between PCC-AVC Goes Marauders' Way

Going back to the inaugural season of then Pasadena Junior College football in 1925, the program has faced 92 overall opponents, 55 of them California Community Colleges. Somehow in that long history, Pasadena City College had never faced Antelope Valley College on the gridiron despite the Marauders playing the sport going back to 1940.
