If the game of baseball was decided on participation, visiting Victor Valley College would have won going away v. Pasadena City College. Fortunately for the Lancers, while the Rams managed to play what is likely a community college record of 36 players, PCC concentrated on putting runs on the board and walked away with a 17-3 win on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lancers evened their record to 3-3 as the entire starting lineup collected at least one hit, scored one run and eight of the nine collected a RBI as well. Leading the attack was catcher Joaquin Salcedo, who batted 3-for-5 with three RBI. The red-hot hitting rightfielder Luke Bauer was 2-for-4 with a double and saw his average actually drop 23 points to .609 while shortstop Omar Cisneros was 2-for-5 with three runs scored.

PCC plated four in the first to knock out VVC starting pitcher Ricardo Gonzales before he could record a single out. Then in the fourth, the Lancers put up a 9-spot capped by a 2-run triple off the left-center fence by leftfielder Jacob Escamilla. Centerfielder Xiovany Ochoa was 1-for-2 with two walks and knocked in three RBI while designated hitter Diego Gurfein hit 2-for-5 and two ribbies.

Benefiting from the team's 15 hits were the Lancers pitching staff as starter Sergio Robles (four innings, five hits, one run, three strikeouts), winning reliever Landon Encheff (two no-hit innings, two Ks), lefty Aden Barcelo (two 1-hit innings, two Ks) and Jeremy Vargas (one inning, one run) were effective v. 26 different Victor Valley batters.

The Rams (1-6) threw 10 pitchers overall.

Pasadena next faces state #8-ranked Santa Ana on Thursday, Feb. 5 with a 2 p.m. first pitch at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Memorial Field.
