Baseball Can't Finish Off Glendale, Lose Playoff Series, 2-1

Things were looking good for the #12 seed Pasadena City College baseball team. Right up to the eighth inning Saturday. After splitting the opening two games of a SoCal Regional First Round series at higher #5 seed Glendale, the Lancers took a 5-1 lead after six innings of their elimination third game. Extra, Extra! PCC Baseball Likes Extras

Extra innings raises the pressure of who will come through or who will fail in the clutch. For the Pasadena City College baseball team, however, it seems to hit a comfort zone when the game is tied after nine innings. On Saturday night, the Lancers won for the third time in extra innings this year, and the sixth consecutive in the game's version of overtime in the past three years.

Garkow Finishes What He Starts, Baseball Blanks Cerritos

It took 27 days for Nathan Garkow to close his own victory. But the three innings he pitched on Monday didn't go down as a save because it simply added to the six innings he threw back on March 13. Add the six and the three and Garkow finished with a 5-hit, complete-game shutout as the Lancers completed a rain-halted game from last month, beating Cerritos, 6-0, at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Field.

Cold Spell For Baseball

When the Pasadena City College baseball team made its magical run to the 2017 South Coast Conference North Division title, the Lancers never had longer than a 2-game losing streak. On Wednesday, PCC suffered its fourth straight loss, an 8-5 setback against Citrus at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Field.

Shortstop Jose Jimenez saw his 28-game hitting streak dating back to last year stopped along with the rest of the Pasadena City College baseball team's bats by Mt. San Antonio ace Mason Corneliussen in an 8-0, South Coast Conference North Division loss Tuesday at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Field, The setback snapped PCC's mini 3-game conference win streak.

Baseball Edges Cerritos In 10 Innings On Manzo's Wall Ball

On Monday, the visiting Pasadena City College baseball team went up against SoCal No. 4-rated Cerritos College, a team on a 10-game win streak and boasting the state's then best record at 17-2. The unranked Lancers battled for nine innings, then used Edward Manzo's 2-RBI double in the 10th frame to snap the Falcons' string in a 6-4, South Coast Conference victory.

Baseball Puts On Its Rally Shue in 9th, Down El Camino, 6-5

State No. 13-ranked El Camino led the Pasadena City College baseball team, 5-1,with six outs to go Monday afternoon. The Lancers though rallied, tying it on a 2-RBI double by reserve rightfielder Frank Yokas and then stealing a 6-5 victory when Tony Shue launched a bases loaded, walk-off drive well down the left field line to end the South Coast Conference contest at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Field.

Mound Men Leading Baseball Upswing

The Pasadena City College baseball pitching staff helped the Lancers go 3-1 on their road trip from Feb. 17-24. PCC's pitchers have allowed only one unearned run in the last 18 innings. While during 35 innings of their road swing, they gave up just 25 hits, six earned runs, and struck out 40 batters.

Baseball Drops to 5-5

The Pasadena City College baseball team is scoring runs of late, but its heralded pitching staff has run into some struggles of late. The Lancers trailed 2-0 and 5-3, but rallied to take a 7-5 lead in the fourth inning Friday. Visiting Merced bolted back to regain the lead in the seventh and go on to down PCC, 11-9, at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Field.

Ingebritson In Command Again As Baseball Beats Oxnard

The Pasadena City College baseball team is riding the right arm of redshirt freshman Gordon Ingebritson. The 5-foot-11 ace pitched his third win in three collegiate starts as the Lancers defeated Oxnard, 3-1, Thursday at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Field.

Baseball Begins Month With Split v. Two WSC Teams

The Pasadena City College baseball team opened the month of February by splitting a pair of games the past few days against Western State Conference schools. The Lancers defeated host Los Angels Valley, 9-2, on Thursday, then were handed an 8-2 loss v. Ventura on Saturday at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Field.

Walk-Off Win For Baseball Over SD Mesa in 10 Innings, 5-4

Catcher Matt Orozco hit a walk-off, bases loaded single to right field, giving the Pasadena City College baseball team a come-from-behind, 5-4 victory over San Diego Mesa in 10 innings Tuesday afternoon at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Field.

Pitching Becomes Bigger Factor For Baseball In 2018

If ever the statement "what are you going to do for an encore?" applied to a program, it would be the 2018 Pasadena City College baseball team. The '17 Lancers set historic contemporary marks for the program, including winning a conference title, making the postseason and winning a regional playoff series, winning 26 games, and setting several individual hitting highs. Even the head coach--Pat McGee--will try to follow up being named the South Coast Conference Coach of the Year for all men's sports.
