The visiting Pasadena City College baseball team was limited to seven hits by El Camino ace Taylor Rashi as the Lancers dropped their SoCal Super Regionals Playoff opener, 8-1, Friday afternoon. PCC (26-14) faces elimination Saturday, May 13 in game 2 of the series at 1 p.m.
El Camino (36-8) scored five runs in the first inning off PCC starting pitcher and loser Paul McAllister (3-1). The Warriors added two more in the second inning. Lancers second baseman Andres Kim (2-for-5) drove in his team's only run in the third inning. There was no scoring by either squad over the final six innings.
Catcher Jessie Garcia batted 2-for-2 with a walk but Rashi (11-3) controlled things as he went the complete game route and struck out nine Lancers.
ECC second baseman Brady Dorn went 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBI and SCC South MVP and catcher Trevor Casanova was 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
Race Gardner (6-4) is expected to be the game 2 starter tomorrow after his complete-game win over Riverside City College in the first round. He will try to help PCC extend its season. If the Lancers win, they would play Sunday, May 14 in a 12 noon start in game 3 of the best-of-3 game series.
